Copper plate 39 cm (15.5 inches) which celebrates the goddess TEMPERANTIA ( as shown in the central section) where she has a glass in one hand and a wine flask in the other.
The whole surface is covered with repousse work in Her celebration. There are heads, faces and skulls, animals, trees, flowers, houses, scenes of feasting, plus other deities. So much to absorb. Every time you look you will see something that you previously missed! Super craftsmanship. Estimated age is 19th century. A similar plate was offered by Bonhams auctions at Oxford in 2011 with an estimate of £300-£400. Our price is £250

Persian solid brass plate depicting "Noahs Ark", possibly made in Persia around 1945
A fabulous wall plate in solid brass,made in Persia around 1945. It depicts Noah’s Ark with Noah and his wife shown in the centre, with servants to either side. Below, the rising sea is shown and in the inner border, hopeless souls are shown as having been drowned in the flood waters.
The outer border shows the animals that have gained access to the ark . A fascinating interpretation of the event. 51 cm (20 inches) wide

solid brass octagonal wall plaque
A fabulous solid brass wall plaque from mid 20th century. Heavily carved and pierced with hanging tag soldered to the back for easy hanging. This octagonal plate measures 60cm across.
