Heavy gauge bain-marie (1860 - 1880)
RAK016 A fantastic, heavy gauge bain-marie from an important country house or London club. Dated from approximately 1860-1880 this piece was made by the renowned London firm of JOHNSON & RAVEY of 4, Conduit Street in Mayfair.
The area around the stamp has been cleaned to reveal the above details. It is also impressed: D.C.S 34 which is the inventory marking for the particular kitchen. Measuring 18 cm tall, with a diameter of 15 cm and priced at £300 it is unusual to find such a historic piece on general sale. This maker’s work is generally found in institutions.
Because of its historical value, it has not been sent to our professional polisher. Should you purchase and require a professional clean, we will include this in the price. Rest assured that the 2 sets of markings will not be obscured but rather improved by the polishing. This is a piece of history!
